MONTHLY MEETINGS
We have now moved away from the Tithe Barn, and returned to the United Reformed Church.
However, in some instances we will use Zoom or other venues, so please keep checking this website, or look in your Newsletter to confirm the venue.
Format - Doors open at 1:00pm, with a cuppa available from 1:30. The meeting begins at 2:00pm on the First Wednesday of the month.
Free Tea and Coffee - Another new innovation is to make our meetings as environmentally friendly as possible by asking members to please bring their own mugs. There will be a choice of teas and coffee available.
We usually run a raffle so make sure you get there early to enjoy your cup of tea/coffee and buy your raffle tickets.
MEMBERS' MEETING TOPICS
June 3rd - Picnic in the Museum Garden
There will be a Picnic in the Wellingborough Museum Garden. There will be a number of outdoor games and a Museum Treasure Hunt. Bring a picnic and a folding chair and enjoy the fun. Tea, coffee and cake will be available from the museum for £3.50. Provision has been made in the event of wet weather. The event will start at 1:30, finishing at approximately 3:30 and there is plenty of parking nearby.
Due to the venue, this event will be ticketed, so please let us know if you would like to join us. Each ticket will be numbered and those numbers entered into a draw. If you want to join us, please let Helen Hinsley know by emailing her at helenhinsley@hotmail.com, or text her on 07828 559332
July 1st - Bharat Patel - My life as a Journalist
Our speaker, Bharat Patel was a familiar face as a reporter on Central News until he became a freelance documentary
producer. He has covered many major stories including the first serial killer captured through DNA fingerprinting, the
Kegworth air disaster, the passing of Princess Diana, the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, and the Bhuj earthquake! Now he reports on his own dramatic, often comic migration across three continents before his ninth birthday. His story
covers the brutal treatment of his Indian Independence-supporting grandfather at the hands of the British, encounters with baboons, accidental deaths and the trials of adapting to cold rainy Britain. Throughout these tribulations the
bizarre behaviour of the Patel family produces frequent laugh-out-loud moments.
He was one of the first Asian reporters on British radio and television and has written all about his experiences in his autobiography, Indian Takeaway.
